Anthony Valpone was the “Ironhorse” of MSC football from 1967-1971. The four-year starter holds many MSC football season and career records. Included in Valpone’s record arsenal were most yards gained in one game, most yards gained in season, most carries in a season, most yard gained in a career and most carries in a career. He was named to the NCAA All-East Football Team, All-Eastern Football Conference Team and All-New Jersey State Conference in 1970 as well as being named the NCAA Outstanding Offensive Back in 1970. Other individual accomplishments include being MVP of the Homecoming Game in 1969 and scoring the only touchdown in the Knute Rockne Bowl Game in 1970.
