A pioneer in the coaching of women’s basketball, Cathy Paskert served for 10 years as the head coach of Montclair State. In her last six seasons, the Squaws became one of New Jersey’s top women’s team posting a won-loss mark of 73-17. Under her directions, Montclair State won the New Jersey State championship in 1971, 1972 and 1974. In 1971 the Squaws went through the regular season winning all 12 games. Montclair lost to West Chester State in the Middle Atlantic Women’s Intercollegiate Regional Tournament. Paskert was also an associate professor in Montclair’s Department of Health Professions and for many years was a member of the Montclair State Athletic Hall of Fame Committee.
