Dan Rodgers proved himself to be one of the finest placekickers to play on the Montclair State gridiron. He set kicking records for field goals and extra points between 1966-1968 including most field goals in a game (3) in 1966, longest field goal in 1967 (48 yards) and most consecutive extra points (28). He scored 100 career points , led the team in scoring in 1966 and 1968 and was an All-Conference All-Star. He was chosen as one of the “Outstanding Athletes of America” and was heralded as MSC’s Most Valuable Player in 1968. In 1970, Rodgers signed with the Jersey Jays of the Atlantic Coast League where he led the lead in kicking. A year later he inked a contract with the National Football League’s New England Patriots.
