One of the best athletes to ever attend Montclair State College, Wood has brought national attention to her alma mater with her outstanding track ability. In her highly successful track career, Wood was on 16 national teams and was elected captain for four of them. She traveled throughout the world representing the United States in international competition and took part in meetins in China, Canada, New Zealand, Africa and the Russia. During her undergraduate days at MSC, she won national titles in the shot put, discus and javelin throws. In addition to her outstanding achievements in track and field, Wood played two years of varsity basketball. She the first in a series of outstanding post players, noted for a smooth, accurate turnaround jumper. The Indians, with Wood playing a major role were 9-3 in 1969-70 and 12-1 in 1970-71.
