Dick DeMasi is credited with having kicked the first field goal in Montclair State history in the 1958 season. He also played the linebacker position and had 12 interceptions in the 1960-61 season. That versatility along with exceptional athletic ability helped the 1960 team to an undefeated record. DeMasi was captain of both the 1960 and 1961 team. He was in the Who’s Who in American College and Universities and was named a member of the All-America 1961 Football Team.
