The winner of eight varsity letters over his Montclair State athletic career, Jeck made major contributions in football, basketball and track. In 1960 and 1961, as the starting quarterback, Jeck led the Indians to 14 consecutive victories in football. He completed 46-of-103 passes for 522 yards and five touchdowns during the 1960 undefeated season. Highlight of the undefeated season was his outstanding three touchdown performance against Central Connecticut State. During the two years that Jeck led the Indians, the team rolled up an impressive 362 points in 16 games. A varsity performer in basketball for three years under Hank Schmidt, George was an extremely steady player and helped the Indians win the New Jersey State College Athletic Conference crown in 1960. His point production over his three-year career rose from eight to 14 points per game. Jeck was the winner of the coveted Sandy McMillan Award, annually presented to the graduating senior who combined athletic participation with the highest standards of citizenship and academic achievement.
