Jackilyn Ferranti fashioned one of the best careers in the history of a very successful MSU softball program. A corner infielder for the Red Hawks from 2005-08, Ferranti led Montclair State's resurgence back into the national spotlight and was a four-time All-NJAC selection including a final campaign in 2008 that was one for the ages. Ferranti helped Montclair State to ECAC Championships in 2005 and 2006 batting over .300 with 57 RBI and was twice named to the All-NJAC Team in addition to grabbing her first NFCA All-Region accolade in 2006. In 2007, Ferranti moved to the leadoff spot in the batting order and became one of the best players in the NJAC ranking in the Top 10 in the conference in 10 statistical categories. Leading the league in runs scored (46), Ferranti recorded 21 multiple-hit games and hit safely in 31 of 46 contests as Montclair State returned to the NCAA Softball Championship for the first time in eight years. Ferranti batted .368 with 56 hits, six home runs and 28 RBI which helped earn her First-Team All-Region honors from the NFCA as well as a place on the organization's Division III All-America Team. Ferranti's final season was simply outstanding. Opening the campaign with a 14-game hitting streak, she batted .431 with 66 hits, 16 doubles, eight home runs, 38 RBI and set a new single-season record with 60 runs scored. Ferranti led MSU to the 2008 NJAC Championship and a return trip to the NCAAs. MSU finished 43-6, establishing a new mark for wins. Ferranti was named NJAC and ECAC Metro Player of the Year, earning First-Team honors from both groups. Chosen All-Region for the third time by the NFCA, she was a First-Team Division III All-America honoree and became the first female athlete to be selected as an Academic All-American with a place on the College Division Third Team. Her outstanding efforts on an off the field would earn her NJAC Female Athlete of the Year honors. Ferranti finished second all-time in Montclair State history in games played (178) and she ranked in the Top 10 in seven other categories. She was also the first player to finish a career with 200 hits, 100 RBI, 100 runs scored and 20 home runs.
