Rubinetti played four seasons for the men’s soccer team from 1988-1991 and it is no coincidence that Montclair State enjoyed some of its finest success during that time. Appearing in 83 games, Rubinetti scored 30 goals and added 37 assists and he finished with 97 points. In his freshman season of 1988, he helped the then Indians to a school record for victories (17) and the ECAC Metro Championship. The following season he had four goals and four assists as Montclair captured its first New Jersey Athletic Conference title in 17 years and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, the Red Hawks first appearance in the NCAAs since 1972. In 1990 he registered a school-record 19 assists (a mark that still stands today) as he helped Montclair State reach the NCAA Tournament again and capped off his career with 10 goals and eight assists as the Red Hawks made their third straight trip to the Division III Tournament. A two-time First-Team All-NJAC selection and 1991 Regional All-American, Rubinetti is the all-time leader in assists, seventh in goals scored and four in points. He was the first player in MSU soccer history to record 30 goals and 30 assists in a career.
