Patrick Ferry was one the best defenders to wear a Montclair State uniform and helped put the Red Hawks on the national map for men’s lacrosse from 2007-10. MSU claimed three consecutive Skyline Conference regular-season titles and two league championships in addition to making the program’s first two NCAA Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. Ferry made an immediate impact in 2007 leading the team in caused turnovers and helping Montclair State reach the ECAC Championship. He set the single-game record with seven forced turnovers and finished with 25 along with 49 ground balls en route to earning Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year honors and a spot on the Second Team. The next season, Ferry made the jump to First Team as Montclair reached the conference title game for the first time. With Ferry leading the defensive unit, the Red Hawks allowed just 112 goals in 17 games and a 6.59 goals against averaged that ranked among the best in Division III in 2008. In 2009, Ferry was one of the driving forces in the most successful season in program history at the time. Earning his second consecutive First-Team All-Conference honor, Ferry forced 28 turnovers, two in the Skyline championship contest as the Red Hawks downed Kean to win its first league crown since 1995. The win also vaulted Montclair State into the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship for the first time. Ferry closed out his impressive career in 2010 with another outstanding season that culminated with a second straight Skyline Conference championship and berth in the NCAA Tournament. He was chosen First-Team Skyline Conference for the third time and was also an All-ECAC selection. Ferry became the second player in program history to be named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III All-America Team and was named as a participant in the organization’s Senior All-Star Game. Ferry finished his career as the all-time leader in caused turnovers (108) and was the second player to record 100 ground balls and 100 caused turnovers in a career.
