In the sport of football, an offensive lineman rarely sees the spotlight, in fact, it seems as though the only time they get notcied in when the offense doesn't move the ball. But in the case of Bobby Franks, he played his entire career going unnoticed - the only way he preferred its. A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for Montclair State, Franks was one of the best lineman the program has produced. During Franks' time with MSU, the Indians/Red Hawks posted a 32-9-1 mark and captured the NJAC championship in 1989 advancing to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Playoffs. He played in 40 of a possible 42 games and served as the Montclair State team captain in 1990, the year in which he was named the recipient of the team's Bill Dioguardi Awad. While a member of the starting unit, Montclair gained 10,398 total yards, and rushed for 5,792 yards for an average of nearly 350 yards per games in total offense and 200 yards per game rushing. Of the Top 5 rushers in school history, two of them (John Walker) and Dan Walsh) reaped the benefits of Franks' blocking. In the days since he wore a Montclair State uniform, Franks did not stray far from Montclair serving as an assistant coach for two seasons.
