Ron Armengol was the first athlete to receiver the Sandy MacMillan Award - for Outstanding Senior Athlete - and the MAC Award - for athletic achievement - in the same year. He did that after serving as captain of the track team and co-captain of the football team. In his MSC career, he received four varsity letters for trakc and three for football. Armengol was three times Montclair State's best football lineman, playing both ways, and nevery missing a minute of any game from 1952-54. He was a standout in the shot put and discus, three times winning the conference discus championship and once takeing the Metropolitan Meet (1953) in the discus. Armengol was twice voted to the New England Small College All-Opponent Football team.
