A four-year starter for the Indians, Porter helped Montclair State to a 34-7-1 overall record, 20-1-1 in NJAC as MSC claimed three conference titles and reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division III Playoffs in 1981. In four seasons, Porter hauled in 90 receptions for 1,342 yards and 14 touchdown receptions averaging 15 yards per catch. After registering 28 receptions and seven touchdowns through his first three seasons, Porter equaled those numbers in his final campaign at Montclair, setting the single-season mark with 62 catches along with 839 yards and seven scores. Named First-Team All-NJAC, Porter ended his career as the all-time leader for pass receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Porter would go on to play with the National Football League’s Chicago Bears and later returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach during the mid-1980s.
