Madison, NJ – Sophomore forward
KAITLYN STRUSS scored three times and added an assist as No. 12 Montclair State rolled to a 7-1 victory over Cabrini College in the Drew University Fall Festival on Friday afternoon.
Struss scored the first two goals as Montclair tallied three times in the first 15 minutes to cruise to their second victory in as many outings (2-0). MSU recorded their seven goals on 11 shots in the game.
The Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead just under five minutes into the game as Struss scored the first of her three tallies, firing a shot to the back post. She scored again 39 seconds later and then assisted on the third goal at the 14:28 mark. Struss dribbled down the left side before flipping a pass across to
JACINTA SANTOS who knocked in the feed for her second of the year.
Struss completed her second career hat trick with 13:17 left in the opening half as she finished off a pass from
MAURA JOHNSTON. Freshman
ALEXIS AMBROSINO put back a rebound two minutes later making the score 5-0. Freshman Amber Haslet set up
DANICA WITTY for the final goal of the half as MSU led by six entering the break.
VICTORIA ROSSI added the final goal four minutes into the second half, taking a pass from
KAILEY DALGAUER in front of the goal.
Montclair State is back in Madison on Saturday, September 5 as it takes on Lebanon Valley College at 2:00 pm.
