Westerberg, who earns his third MSU Athlete of the Week honor, had one of the finest Metro Championships by a Montclair State swimmer in several years as he helped the Red Hawks place sixth overall. Westerberg had a hand in all seven school records set by the men's team, including three individual marks. He broke his own records in the 50 freestyle (20.73) and 100 freestyle as he placed 3rd and 11th overall, respectively in those events. He posted an NCAA “B” cut in the 50 free making him eligible for the NCAA Championships next month. Westerberg also broke his own mark in the 100 butterfly swimming 50.95 to smash his previous mark by two seconds as he placed fifth. Westerberg then swam on the 200 medley, (1:37.26), 200 freestyle (1:25.13), 400 freestyle (3:09.51) and 800 freestyle (6:58.69) relays that each set new school records. The 200 free relay placed third; the 200 medley relay fifth, the 400 free relay fourth and the 800 free relay third place.
