Nieves was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Rookie of the Week after helping the Red Hawks football team snap a four-game losing streak with a 34-21 victory at Morrisville State. The win was also MSU's first NJAC victory of the Year. Nieves, who became the second different Red Hawk to earn NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors this season, rushed for 167 yards on 15 carries, averaging 11.1 yards per rush. He also added a 3-yard touchdown run to culminate a drive in which he accounted for all 65 yards on five carries to give the Red Hawks a 21-14 lead. Nieves, who did not get his first carry until 4:52 left in the third quarter, added 69 yards on Montclair's final scoring drive. He currently ranks 15th in the NJAC in rushing (37.0 yards per game).
