Two outstanding performances helping Montclair State to the NCAA Division III "Sweet 16" earned senior Katie Sire another NJAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor. It is the sixth award this season for Sire and the 10^th in her brilliant career. The league's Player of the Year for the second straight season, Sire averaged 25 points and 8.5 rebounds shooting .696 from the field and .783 at the foul line in two victories. She also added four assists, two blocks and a steal. Sire scored 24 points going 12-of-12 at the line along with nine rebounds as MSU downed Old Westbury 90-69 in the first round. The next day she pumped in 26 points shooting 10-of-12 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds with three assists as the Red Hawks upended Gettysburg 70-45 to advance to the Sectional Tournament for the fourth time in program history. Montclair State will face defending national champion and top-ranked Amherst College in the NCAA Sectional Tournament at 7pm on Friday, March 9 in Massachusetts.
