Gearity is named for the second time this season and the fourth time overall during the 2011-12 academic year following an outstanding performance over the weekend. The New Jersey Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week, Gearity registered the top time in the country in the 400 meter hurdles as she competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational held at Princeton University on Friday. Gearity, the lone Division III competitor in the event, finished fifth overall behind a pair of former and current Division I All-Americans and posted a time of 59.73 seconds which vaulted her to the top of the list in the nation. Gearity's time is nearly two seconds better than the next person on the list. Not only did the time put Gearity in first place on the current NCAA Performance List, she also landed her name in the Top 10 all time in NCAA history as her time is the ninth best. Former Red Hawk Tierra Hicks, the 2003 national champion in the event, is third on that list as she ran a school record 59.22 setting the track record at St. Lawrence University. Two days later, Gearity returned to the track and took third in the 100 meter hurdles at the Ramapo Invitational with a time of 15.93 seconds.
