LaCava, swimming in her first collegiate butterfly event, broke the 36-year-old MSU record in the Red Hawks loss at TCNJ on Friday. Named the NJAC Women's Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week, she won the event with a time of 2:12.97 breaking the 1976 mark of 2:14.53 set by Denise Killeen at the NCAA Championships. LaCava would place second in the 100 fly (1:03.53) and helped the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams to 2nd-place finishes with times of 1:57.83 and 4:02.34, respectively. The next day she helped Montclair State to a third-place finish in the 300 Butterfly relay at the Union College Relays as MSU placed fourth overall.
