Montclair, NJ – Continuing the offensive power it displayed in last week's easy victory over Southern Connecticut, Montclair State trampled Trenton State, 47-0, last night for its sixth victory in seven games. It was Montclair's biggest point production of the season.
The Indians exploded for five touchdown in the first half to take a 34-0 lead with Glen Morchauser getting a pair of touchdowns.
Montclair State tallied twice in the first period. Morchauser scored on a 20-yard run and
AL THOMPSON on a 15-yard scamper. The Indians added three TDs in the second quarter.
TONY VALPONE scoring from the 13, Morchauser from the seven, and Guy Bonnan on a 50-yard pass play from
GREG WHITE. Bob Nrewster converted on four of five tries.
The Indians tallied twice in the third period and then settled down to play defensive ball in the final quarter. Valpone got the first TD in the third quarter on a 12-yard run, with Done Whiteman scoring the final touchdown on a 75-yard pass play from
BOB COSENTINO.
Trenton lost its fifth game in six starts.
