Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State volleyball team (4-19, 1-6 NJAC) closed out its 2001 regular season with a 3-1 loss to visiting New Jersey City University (30-32, 32-30, 24-30, 22-30) at Panzer Gymnasium on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
Junior hitter
STACEY JOHNSON (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County) led Montclair with 22 kills, while MSU freshman hitter
TIFFANY ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) and sophomore setter
CARMEN ALVARADO (Newark, NJ/Barringer) each posted 19 assists.
Aciz also led MSU with nine digs, while freshman
BROOKSHIELD LAURENT (East Orange, NJ/MaryLawn) had three blocks (all solos) for the Red Hawks.
The loss eliminated Montclair State from the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament, which begins on October 30th.
