Upper Montclair, NJ --- The Montclair State University men's soccer team completed its 2001 regular season with a 4-3 victory over the University of Scranton (PA) at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field on Monday, Oct. 29. The Red Hawks closed out the campaign at 7-10-2 overall, including a 6-2-1 mark at home and a 5-4-0 non-conference ledger. The visiting Royals fell to 7-11-0.
Junior back SEAN PASIEKA (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) fired home the game-winning goal for the Red Hawks with just 3:51 remaining in regulation, his third goal of the season and first game-winner.
Senior forward WOOLDY LAPOINTE (Hamilton, NJ/Hamilton West) scored three goals in his final MSU appearance, while freshman midfielder MATT CASWELL (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) collected three assists, including one on Pasieka's game-winner. Caswell finished his rookie season as Montclair's top scorer with 14 points, and Lapointe ended up MSU's top goal-scorer this fall with six tallies. Red Hawk senior goalkeeper ALEX LUNA (Newark, NJ/Hudson Catholic), who holds the Red Hawk men's soccer record with 22 career shutouts, made five saves against Scranton in his final Montclair game.

ROB VALERIE (Hewitt, NJ/West Milford). As a group they led the Red Hawks to 39 total wins, two Howard Johnson Cup titles, and one berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament, plus an appearance in the ECAC Division III NY/NJ Metro Championship game last season.
