ED COLLINS threw for a school record five touchdowns in the first half as 10th ranked Montclair State posted a 63-7 victory over Kean University (2-2, 1-1 NJAC) before a Homecoming crowd of 3,578 at Sprague Field on Saturday evening.

ERIC MAGRINI caught seven passes for 179 yards two touchdowns as the Red Hawks (5-0, 2-0 NJAC) won their 13th consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference contest. Montclair State, which defeated Kean for the 24th time in 27 meetings, scored on five of its seven possessions in the first half.

JASON DEVIRGILIO .MSU extended the lead to 14-0 with 4:48 to play as Collins connected with Magrini on a 45-yard strike. A 20-yard TD pass from Collins to
MIKE ORLANDO (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) with 13:17 to play in the second quarter made the score 21-0.
JAMEL DORSEY hauled in a six-yard pass with 6:15 to go in the half to make the score 28-0. Collins then capped off his half with a 56-yard TD completion to Magrini.
Collins completed 18-of-26 passes in the first half. He broke the record of four touchdown passes set several times, the last time by Collins himself against Buffalo State during the 2000 season. Collins finished the game 19-of-28 for 269 yards in just over two and a half quarters of play.
The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter when junior backup quarterback Pete Dicataldo (Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan) hooked up with freshman receiver John Conroy (Riverdale, NJ/Pompton Lakes) for a 29-yard touchdown strike.
