New York, NY – The Montclair State University women's soccer team closed out its 2001 campaign with a 2-0 loss to host New York University in the ECAC Division III Metro Championship Game at Riverbank State Park on Saturday, Nov. 3. MSU, which defeated NYU by a 1-0 count in last season's ECAC title game, finished with an overall record of 13-5-3.

Jennie Perlmutter tallied the decisive goal for the Violets off a scramble at 58:21 following a scoreless first half. Lauren Henkel then added an insurance goal for NYU at 71:07 on a breakaway as the Violets outshot the Red Hawks, 12-3, on the afternoon.

Junior goalkeeper STEPHANIE ROMANKO (N. Brunswick, NJ/N. Brunswick) made five saves for Montclair, while Becca Giefer stopped three shots for NYU, which also posted a 1-0 win over MSU back on Oct. 11.
