Biola, CA - Freshman LAUREN ROTA (FranklinLakes, NJ/Indian Hills) scored in the 70th minute as Montclair State won its third straight with a 2-1 victory over Biola University in California on Monday evening.
CASSIE NAHREBNE (Colonia, NJ/Colonia) also scored for the Red Hawks (3-0-1), who won the game despite being outshot in the contest, 18-5.
Nahrebne gave Montclair a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute as she lofted a ball over the head of Biola goalkeeper ERIN VAN HORN. The Eagles would tie the game just before half as NATALIE ROTH picked up a loose ball in front of the net and scored. It was the first goal allowed by MSU this season, covering 342:00 minutes.
Biola had plenty of opportunities in the second half hitting the crossbar twice while MSU goalkeeper STEPHANIE ROMANKO (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) made two point-blank saves.
Rota then gave the Red Hawks the lead for good as she floated a shot past Van Horn at the 70 minute mark.
