Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting William Paterson University this afternoon at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field.
The loss leaves the Red Hawks at 3-5-1 overall and 0-1-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play. The Pioneers improve to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in NJAC action with the win.
WPU sophomore midfielder Dave Szeller (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) tallied the game's first goal with just 46 seconds remaining in the first half. The Pioneers increased their lead to 2-0 just 4:19 into the second half when senior forward Jon Russo connected on a penalty kick.

SEAN PASIEKA (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) scored MSU's lone goal on a direct kick with 13:54 remaining in regulation following a Paterson foul.

ALEX LUNA (Newark, NJ/Hudson Catholic) finished with 10 saves for the Red Hawks, while freshman netminder Mike Fedorczyk (Hillsborough, NJ/St. Joseph's) made four stops for the Pioneers as Paterson outshot Montclair, 23-11.
MSU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Rowan in Glassboro, NJ at 7:30 p.m.
