Women's Basketball Knocked Off by TCNJ in NJAC Play

Ewing, NJ -- The Montclair State University women's basketball team suffered its second consecutive defeat, dropping a 67-52 decision at The College of New Jersey on Friday, Jan. 11. Montclair falls to 5-9 overall, and 2-6 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play.

The Red Hawks led by as much as 12 points in the first half, and trailed by just one point at halftime at Packer Gym, but the host Lions extended their lead in the second half to hand MSU its third loss in its last four contests.

Montclair last defeated TCNJ, 57-44, on Feb. 21, 1998, a span of seven games.

Junior center JASMINE BATTS (Carteret, NJ) led MSU in scoring for the 12th time this season, and also recorded her eighth double-double of the campaign in notching 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Lions.

Sophomore guard DYETTE DILLARD (Willingboro, NJ) added 12 points for the Red Hawks in the setback.

MSU and TCNJ will next meet on Saturday, Feb. 16, in Upper Montclair in the regular-season finale.

The Red Hawks will next return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 16, when they host New Jersey City University at 6:00 p.m. at Panzer Gymnasium. MSU defeated NJCU twice last season, 60-56 and 61-50.
