Upper Montclair, NJ (10/12/02) - The MSU field hockey team saw its three-game winning streak snapped with a 3-0 loss to Messiah (PA) College today at Sprague Field.
TRISHA WINKLE had 16 saves for MSU, which was outshot, 33-4, and falls to 6-3 overall.
Messiah, which topped MSU last season, took a 1-0 lead at the 11:11 mark of the contest as Danae Chambers chopped in a loose ball past Winkle for her fifth goal of the season. Messiah had an opportunity to extend the lead just before half, but Winkle stopped Jenna Schwind on a penalty shot.
Messiah extended the lead to 2-0 at the 51:47 mark of the contest when Kelly Stanwell scored unassisted. The final goal came with 54 seconds left as Aftan Fisher recorded her eighth goal of the season.
