Manhattan, NY (11/16/02) - The New York University men's soccer team fell to Montclair State University 2-1, in the ECAC Division III Metro Championship Semifinals held at Riverbank State Park in upper Manhattan.

The Red Hawks scored first when ANDREW ANGORANO found the back of the net at the 10-minute mark of the first half. MSU held the lead as the teams moved into intermission.

The Violets tied the contest in the 55th minute as sophomore Ryan Haney corralled the ball from a scrum and fired it into the back of the net. But the Red Hawks responded 10 minutes later as FERNANDO YEAGER's shot grabbed the lead and the eventual game in the 65th minute.

NYU outshot Montclair State 7-3, and held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Violets finish the 2002 campaign with an 11-7-2 record.

The Red Hawks advance to the ECAC Metro Championship game on Sunday, November 17, where they will face Stevens Institute of Technology at 1:00 p.m.
