OMAR BOOTHE (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck) scored 15 points and became the 23rd player in Montclair State history to score 1,000 points as the Red Hawks defeated Kean University, 61-58 in NJAC Men's Basketball action at D'Angola Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
BEN MARTINEZ (Scotch Plains, NJ/SP-Fanwood) led the way with 16 points for Montclair State (16-6, 10-5 NJAC), which has won 13 of its last 15 games. Ironically, the run began with a 92-85 double-overtime win over Kean at home back on December 5th.
Boothe netted the milestone mark with 12:22 to play in the second half as he scored on a jumper. The 6-3 forward now has 1,008 in his career.
The win also helped the Red Hawks inch closer toward a berth in the NJAC Playoffs. Montclair entered the evening tied for second place, just one game behind first-place Ramapo (10-4). MSU will face Ramapo on Saturday in Mahwah at 4:00 pm.
