Upper Montclair, NJ (3/30/02) -- Senior midfielder KRISTEN MISKEY (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored with 23 seconds remaining to lift Montclair State to a 14-13 victory over Lycoming College in NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse action at Sprague Field on Tuesday afternoon.
JODI GANGEMI (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) scored five goals for Montclair State (2-3), which snapped a three-game losing streak. ERICA LIKENS (Bel Air, MD/Bel Air) had five goals and two assists for the Warriors (4-5), which rallied back from a five-goal deficit midway through the second half.
Gangemi's fifth goal of the game gave Montclair a 13-8 lead with 15:24 to play, but Lycoming came roaring back with five goals over the next six minutes. KARYN WRIGHT (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) began the spurt with a goal at the 15:35 mark of the half. Likens and ASHLEY ROWE (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) each added scores to cut the lead to 13-11 and a Likens' goal at 20:07 of the period moved Lycoming within a goal. After two key stops by COLLEEN CLARKE (Folsom, PA/Cardinal O'Hara), Likens tied the game at 13-13 with 9:07 to play.
The Red Hawks had several opportunities to take the lead, but Clarke came up with four stops in the final four minutes before Miskey found the back of the net for her third tally of the game. Miskey also added two assists for MSU, while CATHY HOMIEK (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) had two goals and five assists. Rowe had three goals and two assists for Lycoming, which was outshot in the game, 27-25.
Clarke made 13 saves for the Warriors while Montclair's DIANA GIL (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) had eight saves.
