Women's Lacrosse Clipped by FDU-Madison

Madison, NJ (4/11/02) - Freshman KIM SCHREYER (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored five goals as FDU-Madison held off a late Montclair State rally and posted a 15-14 victory over the Red Hawks in NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon.

KRISTEN MISKEY (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) scored five goals for the Red Hawks, who battled back from 15-11 with 10:22 left in the game. CATHY HOMIEK (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) had four goals and three asissts for MSU.

The Red Hawks trailed 15-11 with 10:22 to play when LORI BURNS (Pompton Plains, NJ/Pequannock) scored to cut the deficit to three. Homiek then tallied her fourth of the game with 6:12 left to make the score 15-13, and JODI GANGEMI (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) got MSU within one with 2:24 left. But that would be as close as the Red Hawks would get.

Montclair State (3-4) trailed 7-4 with 15 minutes to play in the first half before scoring six straight goals. Gangemi, the ECAC Player of the Week, began the run with a goal and Miskey scored three straight to give the Red Hawks the lead, 8-7 with 10:56 to go. Homiek's goal gave MSU a two-goal advantage before LISA D'ARIES (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) capped off the scoring run with a goal at 24:12 into the period.

Following the MSU run, the Devils (3-7) pulled within a goal before the half as BETH BANGHART (Budd Lake, NJ/Mt. Olive) and KRISTEN MARLATT (Jackson, NJ/Ocean Township) scored to make it 10-9

MSU's DIANA GIL (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) made 12 saves in goal for the Red Hawks.
