Camden, NJ (9/10/02) - The Montclair State volleyball team rattled off five straight points to break a 2-2 tie in the opening game and went on to sweep Rutgers University-Camden, 30-11, 30-19 and 30-11 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening.
It was the second straight win for the Red Hawks (2-0, 1-0 NJAC), who won back-to-back contests for the first time since October 26th and 31st, 2000.
MSU was paced by sophomore hitter
TIFFANY ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus), who had seven kills, three service aces and three digs Senior
STACEY JOHNSON (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) collected four kills, three aces and one solo block while sophomore
JENNIFER OLAN (Jersey City, NJ/Academic) had 16 assists and three service aces.
Freshman
KELLY MCGUIRE (Upper Saddle River, NJ/No. Highlands) had five aces for MSU, which collected 22 in the match.
For Rutgers-Camden, sophomore TANESHA WILLIAMS (Atco, NJ/Edgewood) had seven digs and seven blocks, while junior MICHELLE GARCIA (Woodlyme, NJ/Collingswood) had 10 digs.
The Red Hawks return to action on Friday, September 13th as they travel to Scranton to compete in the Royals Invitational. The tournament is a two-day event.
