St. Davids, PA (9/7/02) - Junior forward Megan Ulicny (Edgewood, NJ/Edgewood Regional) scored at the 4:07 mark of overtime as the Montclair State field hockey team topped Eastern College (PA), 1-0 in NCAA Division III action on Saturday afternoon.
The win was the first for new Red Hawks head coach Beth Gottung, who took over the program in March.
Ulicny snapped the scoreless tie as she took a pass from senior
DONNA RUSSO (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) and slapped it past Eastern goalkeeper MELISSA WOOD for the winning goal.
The shot was only the 10th for the Red Hawks (1-0), who were outshot 26-10 in the contest.
Junior
TRISHA WINKLE (Forked River, NJ/Lacey) kept the shutout in tact for MSU as she turned away 24 shots. Moyer made five saves for Eastern (PA), which held a 12-3 edge in penalty corners as well.
The Red Hawks return to action on Tuesday, September 10th as they host Kutztown University in the 2002 home opener at Sprague Field. Game time is 7:30 pm.
