Glassboro, NJ (01/18/03) - The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams each suffered losses to Rowan University in the Esby Pool on Saturday afternoon. The women fell 71-41 while the men (3-5) dropped a 125-101 decision. The women's team (6-5, 1-2 NJAC) topped Kean, 52-22.

Sophomore SCOTT MONTGOMERY (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) notched the only first-place finish against Rowan as he captured the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:07.72.

On the women's side, sophomore ERIN HAYES (Hawthorne, NJ/Hawthorne) won the 3-Meter Diving competition with a score of 175.28. It was the only first-place finish the Red Hawks scored against Rowan.

Against Kean, Montclair had four-first-place finishes. COLLEEN GRIFFIN (Bloomfield, NJ/Lacordaire Academy) won the 100 freestyle (56.91) while ADRIENNE RICHARDI (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) placed first in the 200 Backstroke (2:29.98). DANIELLE FLORIO (Lyndhurst, NJ/St. Dominic's) won the 500 Freestyle (5:56.62) and RACHEL YANNUZZI (Fairview, NJ/Paramus Catholic) claimed the 200 Breaststroke (2:45.50).

Montclair State will return to action on Wednesday, January 29, as they will face Drew University in Madison. The men's and women's meet will begin at 6:00 pm.
