Pomona, NJ - Montclair State bounced back from its second defeat of the season with a 76-70 victory over Richard Stockton in New Jersey Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon in Pomona.
Freshman
ANTWAN DOZIER (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) felt right at home with a game high 23 points to led the Red Hawks (14-2, 8-2).
The Ospreys led early with a 17-8 advantage with 12:32 remaining in the first half, but the Red Hawks rallied to take a 34-32 halftime lead capped by a three pointer from
MICHAEL GLUCK (Union, NJ/Union) during a 15-4 run.
In the second half,
PIERRE MITCHELL (Newark, NJ/Eastside) capped a 7-0 run for Montclair with a trey followed by another jumper to give MSU its biggest lead at 68-55 with 6:52 remaining. Stockton rallied late to pull within four, but the Red Hawks were able to hold on with four free throws in the final 37 seconds of the game.
Mitchell and Gluck each finished the game with 13 points, including three three-pointers while teammate Abraham Johnson (Newark, NJ/Barringer) chipped in with eight points and seven assists.
The Red Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday as they return home for a 6:00pm matchup with Rutgers-Newark.
