ANTWAN DOZIER (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasntville) scored a season-high 30 points as Montclair State remained unbeaten with a 85-77 overtime victory over The College of Staten Island (7-4) in non-conference Men's Basketball action at the Athletic and Recreation Center on Saturday evening.
JOSEPH THOMAS (Linden, NJ/Linden) added 19 points for the Red Hawks (10-0), who are now tied with their best start since the 1983-1984 season.
The Red Hawks trailed 34-25 heading into halftime and stormed out with a 15-3 run in the first four minutes of play to start the second half. Thomas began a run of nine straight points for MSU with a three point play followed by three straight layups, two from Dozier and one from
MICHAEL DAVIS (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) to give Montclair their first lead in the second half. MSU then rallied later in the half, down five with 1:32 remaining.
MICHAEL GLUCK (Union, NJ/Union) put the team within three with a layup and 1:02 left in the half. Thomas then sent the game into overtime with a layup in the final five seconds of the game.
The Red Hawks then dominated the overtime period, outscoring The College of Staten Island, 19-11. Dozier led all players in the overtime period, scoring 10 points.
