Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 8 Men's Soccer Downs Ferrum, 3-1

Upper Montclair, NJ (10/13/03) --- Sophomore midfielder SEAN HORAN (Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) scored a pair of goals as eighth-ranked Montclair State posted its fifth straight victory with a 3-1 win over Ferrum College (VA) at MSU Soccer Park at Pittser Field on Monday afternoon.

Freshman ILYAS TASCI (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) had a goal for the Red Hawks (12-1-2), who built a 2-0 lead at halftime and matched their win total from a year ago. Brad Orr (Virginia Beach, VA/Ocean Lakes) had a goal for the Panthers (4-10).

Horan opened the scoring just under five minutes into the match as he took a crossing pass from KEVIN BURKHARDT (Clifton, NJ/Don Bosco Prep) and fired a shot that glanced off a defender's body and past Ferrum goalkeeper Carl Braverman (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown). Horan then extended the lead to 2-0 at the 16-minute mark as he notched goal No. 5 on the year. Horan picked up an errant clear from 35 yards out and moved it to within 25 yards out before letting loose as shot that found the back of the net.

Ferrum would cut the lead to 2-1 at 57:37 as Orr tapped in a corner-kick feed from Denny Leonard (Hampton, VA/Hampton) for the goal. But Montclair responded 42 seconds later as RYAN MORGAN (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) put the ball toward the goal from the right side where Tasci back-tapped a shot past Braverman for his sixth goal of the season.

EDGARD DINTEN (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge) made three saves as he earned his seventh win of the season. Braverman stopped five shots, including a point-blank chance by Horan in the first half. Montclair State outshot Ferrum, 16-5 and held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

MSU returns to action on Wednesday, October 15th as MSU hosts the Gothic Knights of New Jersey City University in an NJAC matchup. Montclair is currently 3-0-2 in the conference this season.
