Upper Montclair, NJ (10/25/03) - The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2003-04 season with losses at perennial powerhouse The College of New Jersey at Panzer Pool on Saturday. The men's team suffered a 136-92 loss while the women's team fell, 148-73.

Senior COLLEEN GRIFFIN (Bloomfield, NJ/Lacaodaire Academy) was the only individual first place finisher for the Red Hawks in the meet as she captured the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.78. Griffin also finished second in the 50 freestyle (25.26). The 400 freestyle relay of KATIE EACHES (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield), LAUREN RUSH (Morristown, NJ/Morristown), MONIQUE FALLAHA (Montville, NJ/Montville) and SUE SOLLENBERGER (Stratford, NJ/Gateway Regional) took first place with a time of 4:40.80.

On the men's side, SHANE SCHWARZ (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional) finished second in the 200 fly (2:10.20) and the 500 freestyle (5:24.60) while freshman Mohamed Adbelaal (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) was second in the 100 freestyle. SCOTT MONTGOMERY (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) placed second in the 200 backstroke (2:12.21).

The Red Hawks return to action on Friday, November 7 as they host Division I Providence College at Panzer Pool at 5:00 pm
