Upper Montclair, NJ - Freshman attacker JOHN DELLA PESCA (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and junior SEAN PEKARSKY (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) each scored five goals as Montclair State snapped a two-game losing streak with a 17-7 victory over Lasell College (MA) in NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse action at Sprague Field on Saturday evening.

Sophomore attacker KEVIN GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) added two goals and four assists for the Red Hawks (2-2), who scored the first four goals of the game in posting their highest offensive total do date in 2003. Freshman Jeremy Davis (Zionsville, PA) had two goals and an assist for the Lasers (0-1), who were outshot in the game, 46-34.

Della Pesca, who also had two assists, scored the first four goals of the contest as Montclair State built a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. Della Pesca put MSU on the board just 1:22 in the contest and needed only 13 seconds to make the score 2-0. He then posted the hat trick at the 1:46 mark of the period and made it a four-goal lead with 10:22 left.

The Red Hawks led 7-2 at halftime before breaking open the game in the third period with five goals, three coming with a man-advantage. RICH DOYEN (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) scored on the power play 42 seconds into the second half and after Pekarsky collected his second goal, Gondres scored to give MSU a 10-2 lead midway through the period. Pekarsky then collected his hat trick at the 9:02 mark as Montclair again used the power play to extend its lead.

MSU was 7-of-10 on its man-up advantages in the game with Lasell capitalizing on two of its five opportunities.

VINNY DEGENNARO (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) made 13 saves for Montclair State, while Colby Gorniewicz (Liverpool, NY) also added 13 saves.
