Wayne, NJ (09/18/03) -- The Montclair State University volleyball team won the first two games of its match, but lost the final three as they dropped a five-set decision to William Paterson in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Thursday evening.
The Red Hawks won the first two games by identical 30-25 scores ,before dropping the last three, 30-19, 30-28 and 15-3 in the fifth and deciding game.
Junior outside hitter
TIFFANY ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) led the Red Hawks this evening with 15 kills and also registered a team-high 11 digs along with eight assists. Junior setter
JENNIFER OLAN (Jersey City, NJ/McNair) paced Montclair with 31 assists and seven digs, while senior hitter
CARMEN ALVARADO (Newark, NJ/Barringer) contributed 13 kills and 10 digs.
Sophomore
KELLY MCGUIRE (Upper Saddle River, NJ/No. Highlands) had four kills, four service aces and eight digs while freshman
HEATHER ACIZ (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) contribted eights kills and a team-high five aces in the match.
Montclair State returns to action on Friday as they compete in the Pitt-Bradford Volleyball Tournament. MSU will play Philadelphia Bible at 5:30 pm on Friday, before playing three times on Saturday. The Red Hawks will face host Pitt-Bradford at 9:00 am and fellow NJAC rival Rutgers-Newark at Noon. MSU wrap up its play at 2:30 pm against Lincoln University.
