Glassboro, NJ (1/17/04) - The Montclair State men's basketball team came up short for the fourth straight game, falling at Rowan University today by a 62-56 count in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest.

DUQUAN EVERETT (Orange, NJ/Orange) paced MSU (7-6, 0-4 NJAC) with 21 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, while teammate
LAMONT NEWELL (Lodi, NJ/Dwight Morrow) added 16 points for the Red Hawks.
Earle Agee (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank) led the host Profs (11-3, 5-1 NJAC) with 15 points while Brandon King (Sicklerville, NJ/Washington Township) collected 14 rebounds. Montclair outscored Rowan, 36-33, in the second half after trailing, 29-20, at the half.
In the second half, the Profs has a 12 point lead (48-36) with 5:35 left. The Red Hawks pulled within four points (50-46) after a 10-2 run which ended at 2:47. Anwar Montgomery (Scotch Plains, NJ/SP-Fanwood) scored seven points and Newell had three. Tylee Thomas (Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood) had two foul shots for the Profs w(52-46) with 2:38 remaining. Everett followed with a basket to pull MSU within 52-58.
Agee answered with two foul shots which gave Rowan a six-point advantage at 1:32. With 85 seconds left, Newell hit a three-pointer and MSU was down by three (54-51). Thomas had a layup and king made two free throws to lead 58-51 with 52 seconds on the clock. Newell kept the Red Hawks alive with a three (58-54) with 37 seconds to go before the Profs connected on four free throws - two by Thomas and Ryan Cochrane (Howell, NJ/Pemberton) to seal the win.
