Glassboro, NJ (11/2/04) - The Montclair State men's soccer team saw its 2004 season end as the Red Hawks were ousted from the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday evening with a 1-0 loss to top seed and defending champion Rowan University.
CHRIS OWEN had three saves as MSU ended its season at 14-4-2. It was the second time this season and second straight year the Red Hawks fell to the Profs. Last year, Rowan knocked off Montclair, 4-1 in the NJAC Tournament and the Profs also posted a 3-0 win at MSU back on October 16.In the tight defensive battle, Montclair State had its chances as a shot in the first half was cleared away across the goal line. In the second half, MSU came close to taking the lead with eight minutes left, but
RYAN MORGAN's shot went wide.Rowan finally broke throught with 3:30 to play as Nick Martinelli put a shot on goal that trickled in past Owen for the game's lone score.
Rowan outshot Montclair State, 8-7.
