MICHAEL GLUCK poured in a game-high 24 points and was named the Most Valuable Player, as the Montclair State University men's basketball team defeated Westminster (PA) College, 103-82, in the 2004 Mountainside Hospital Holiday Tournament championship game today at MSU's Panzer Gymnasium.
Montclair State improved to 5-5 overall with its third straight win, while Westminster fell to 9-3 on the season. The 103 points were the most scored by MSU in a single game so far this season Gluck, who led MSU with 23 points in yesterday's 80-43 opening-round victory over Medgar Evers (NY) College, finished with seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals today while shooting 9-of-12 from the field as the Red Hawks scored 10 of the game's first 12 points and raced out to a 60-38 halftime advantage.

GIAN PAUL GONZALEZ finished second in scoring with 22 points, adding six rebounds and five assists while shooting 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Gonzalez was named to the All-Tournament Team along with junior guard
RASHAD BUTLER, who contributed 13 points, nine rebounds and a game-high nine assists in today's triumph.
Westminster senior forward Pat O'Connor, who scored 14 points this afternoon, and junior guard Mark DeMonaco, who had 10 points for the Titans, also earned All-Tournament accolades. Freshman forward Brian Urso posted 14 points and three rebounds on the day for Westminster while going 4-for-8 from three-point range.
Bethany Lutheran (MN) College took today's tournament consolation game by an 85-68 count over Medgar Evers for its first win of the 2004-05 campaign. The victorious Vikings (1-8) were led by freshman guard and All-Tournament team member Dewan Grant, who paced BLC with 25 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
Freshman Peter Hunter led the opposing Cougars (2-8) with 21 points and five assists. Bethany Lutheran fell to Westminster last night, 122-119, in the tournament's opening round.
Montclair State now returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Jan. 5, 2005, at Rowan University. The Red Hawks are 0-2 in NJAC play so far this season.
