Upper Montclair, NJ (2/3/04) - The Montclair State swimming and diving teams swept rival William Paterson University tonight at Panzer Pool. The Montclair men (5-6 overall) won by a 130-105 scores, while the MSU women (2-9) triumphed by a 129-88 count. The William Paterson men are now 7-2 overall while the WPU women fall to 6-4.

COLLEEN GRIFFIN (Bloomfield, NJ/Lacordaire Academy) had two first-place finishes for the Red Hawk women, winning the 50 Free in a time of 25.64 seconds and the 100 Free in 58.51 seconds. Classmate
MONIQUE FALLAHA (Montville, NJ/Montville) was victorious in both the 1-Meter and 3-Meter Dives, with scores of 149.00 and 180.95, respectively, while
DANIELLE FLORIO (Lyndhurst, NJ/St. Dominic's) won the 1000 Free in 12:07.01 minutes and the 200 Fly in 2:34.63 minutes. WPU sophomore Kristin Clegg (Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic) set a new Panzer Pool record by winning the 200 Backstroke in a time of 2:11.85 minutes.
On the men's side, MSU junior
SCOTT MONTGOMERY (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) took the 200 IM in 2:07.36 minutes, and also claimed the 200 Backstroke in 2:03.77 minutes. Red Hawk sophomore Bryant Edwrads (Bergenfield, NJ/Bergenfield) won the 3-Meter Dive (213.75) and finished second by 4.05 in the 1-Meter Dive to freshman teammate
AUSTIN HOFFMAN (Florissant, MO/McCluer North), who scored a 146.65. WPU junior Steve Papendick ( Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) triumphed in both the 200 Free (1:50.10) and the 500 Free (5:08.52) for the visiting Pioneers.
MSU next hosts NJ Tech on Friday, Feb. 6, at 6:00 p.m. at Panzer Pool, while William Paterson entertains The College of New Jersey on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 1:00 p.m. in Wayne.
