Upper Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to four games with today's 81-77 matinee victory over Lehman (NY) College at Panzer Gymnasium. MSU improves to 13-7 overall, while Lehman falls to 17-5 on the season.
The game, which was postponed from Dec. 6, 2003, due to inclement weather, was part of the 2003-04 NJAC-CUNYAC Challenge. MSU also defeated CUNYAC member Staten Island yesterday, 86-79, in overtime.

GIAN PAUL GONZALEZ (North Haledon, NJ/Manchester Reg.) paced the Red Hawks with 22 points and 13 rebounds, and was 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Junior guard George Tejada (Hackensack, NJ/Fort Lee) finished with 16 points and a team-high six assists, while sophomore guard Anwar Montgomery (Scotch Plains, NJ/SP-Fanwood) collected 13 points and six rebounds, and was 3-for-7 from three-point range, while junior center
MICHAEL DAVIS (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) notched 14 points and grabbed six caroms.
Lehman senior guard Jonathan Rojas (Bronx, NY/Walton) led the visiting Lightning with 22 points and nine rebounds, shooting 10-for-22 from the field, while junior center Miguel Jorge (Bronx, NY/Dominican Republic) tallied 18 points and was 4-for-6 on three-pointers. Senior forward Marc Domin (Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) had 16 points for Lehman, and junior guard Andre Bigot (Bronx, NY/Sullivan CC) tallied 14 points and a team-high eight assists and two steals.
Montclair State led at the half, 41-37, taking its first lead with 8:41 remaining in the opening session. There were seven lead changes overall and five ties scores, with MSU staying ahead for good by hitting on 6-of-7 free throw attempts in the final 33 seconds of regulation. Lehman had 44 points in the paint and also scored 23 points off turnovers, while Montclair shot 49.1 percent overall from the field, including 37.5 percent in the second half. MSU returns to conference action on Wednesday, Feb. 11, against The College of New Jersey, while Lehman visits John Jay that same night.
