Allentown, PA (9/10/04) - The Montclair State volleyball team dropped a pair of games as the Red Hawks opened play at the Buttermaker Tournament held at Muhlenberg College on Friday evening.
The Red Hawks (3-3), who have lost two straight, fell to College Misericordia 3-0 (30-27, 30-20, 30-21) and host Muhlenberg (30-18, 30-16, 32-30).
Senior hitter
TIFFANY ACIZ collected eight kills and nine digs for MSU against Misericordia, while junior
KELLY MCGUIRE added six kills and 10 digs. Sophomore
ELYSE GRYWALSKI registered 22 assists with
ASIA LIVINGSTON and
HEATHER ACIZ contributing six kills apiece.
HEATHER ACIZ had a team-high four service aces while
JANIRE LEBRON had seven digs and three kils.
Against Muhlenberg,
TIFFANY ACIZ had eight kills, four assists and six digs while sister Heather and Livingston added five kills each.
JANIELLE SANCHEZ recorded eight digs in the loss.
The losses drop Montclair State into the Bronze Bracket of the tournament. MSU will play twice on Saturday. The Red Hawks will face Alrbight at 9:00 am and then take on Swarthmore at 1:00 pm.
