STEPHANIE MACHIN scored 22 points and junior
SHIKEENA LYNARD pulled down a career-best 14 rebounds as Montclair State snapped a two-game losing streak with a 78-64 victory over Rowan in NJAC Women's Basketball action at Panzer Gymnasium on Monday.

AMANDA MULLANEY added 12 points and a pair of blocks as the Red Hawks (10-8, 5-6 NJAC), who swept the season series with Rowan. MSU posted a 69-50 win over the Profs (10-8, 5-5 NJAC) in Glassboro on January 10. Sheemea Carr had 19 points and eight assists for Rowan, which fell for the third time in its last five games.
Rowan scored the first two points of the game - the only lead the Profs would have - before Montclair State took the lead for good as Mullaney hit a short jumper for a 6-5 lead. A three-pointer by
CYNTHIA WARRINGTON and basket by
FERIN CATLETT made the score 13-6 before Rowan cut the deficit to 13-11 on a layup by Jaime McCormack with 10:29 left. Montclair State then went on a 10-0 run as Machin and Mullaney scored six and four points, respectively giving MSU a 23-11 lead.
Rowan cut the lead to 27-23 with 2:19 to go as Stephanie Finke scored, but Lynard scored four straight and
JESSICA GARRABRANT hit a free throw as the Red Hawks led 32-23 at intermission.
In the second half as basket by McCormack made the score 37-30, but MSU responded with a 9-0 run, four by Machin and a three-pointer by
JESSICA HORAN as Montclair built a 46-30 advantage with 10:24 to play. A layup by
AMANDA MELO gave the Red Hawks their largest lead at 66-43 with 4:05 remaining. Rowan then trimmed the deficit to 70-59 in the final 93 seconds, however, a free throw by Garrabrant and layup by Catlett put the game away.
Machin added eight rebounds, two blocks and three steals while Lynard finished with seven points. Horan had nine points and five assists as Montclair State shot 44 percent (33-of-74) from the field in the game and outscored Rowan off the bench, 27-3.
McCormack had 18 points while Finke posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kami Bernardo had 12 points and nine rebounds as the Profs shot just 32 percent (22-of-67) from the floor and committed 29 turnovers.
The Red Hawks return to action on Wednesday, February 2 as they host Ramapo College at Panzer Gym with the tip-off scheduled for 8:00 pm. Rowan will travel to Kean University on the same evening for a 6:00 pm start.
