Duncan, Everett Pace Montclair Over Keystone (PA), 86-47

Upper Montclair, NJ - Junior center Keith Duncan (Rahway, NJ/Newark East Side) posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and junior forward Duquan Everett (Orange, NJ/Orange) added 15 points and eight rebounds as sixth-ranked Montclair State routed Keystone College (PA), 86-47, in NCAA Division III men's basketball action at Panzer Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

Junior guard George Tejada (Hackensack, NJ/Fort Lee) had 11 points and four steals off the bench for the Red Hawks (3-1), who forced 28 turnovers in the game and saw each of its 12 players score in the contest. Sophomore guard Kevin Erb (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) had 12 points to lead the Giants (3-6), who have lost four straight.

Montclair State jumped out to an 8-0 lead as Lamont Newell (Lodi, NJ/Dwight Murrow) sank a three pointer and Everett scored five points in the first two minutes of the contest. The Red Hawks then stretched the lead to 17-4 with 13:34 to play as Pierre Mitchell (Newark, NJ/Newark East Side) hit a free throw and took a 34-8 lead with four minutes before half as Duncan connected on a short jump shot. Duncan, who had 12 in the opening 20 minutes, finished off the half with a dunk as the Red Hawks took a 46-11 lead into intermission.

Meanwhile, Keystone struggled making just 4-of-22 attempts from the floor while committing 16 miscues. The 11 points was the second-lowest output in one half by a Montclair State opponent since the inception of the shot clock in 1986. Last season, MSU held William Paterson to 10 points in a 45-31 victory on February 19.

Michael Davis (Atlantic City, NJ/Atlantic City) had eight points, five rebounds and three blocked shots for Montclair State as the Red Hawks shot 59 percent (19-of-32) in the first half and finished the game 34-of-71 (48 percent) from the field. MSU outrebounded Keystone, 45-34, including 17 offensive boards.

Harry Brown (Bellefonte, PA/Pottsgrove) had 10 points for Keystone.

The Red Hawks will next be in action on Friday, December 19 as they travel to Union to face the Cougars of Kean University at 7:00 pm. It is a reschedule of a contest postponed on November 25. Montclair will then close out the calendar year by competing in the Grnad Canyon Classic as they face Goucher College (MD) on December 29 and Husson (ME) on December 29.

Montclair does not return to Panzer Gymnasium until Wednesday, January 21, 2004 when it host William Paterson University.
