Montclair, NJ - Junior forward Tobias Smith tallied 25 points and went 6-for-10 from three-point range to pace visiting Richard Stockton College to a 76-72 NCAA Division III men's basketball victory over Montclair State University today at Panzer Gymnasium. The Ospreys thus swept the two-game season series with MSU to improve to 14-9 overall and 8-6 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, while the host Red Hawks fall to 12-9 on the year and 7-6 in NJAC play.

GIAN PAUL GONZALEZ led all players with 27 points, going 8-of-10 from the free throw line while also collecting eight rebounds. Red Hawk senior forward
MICHAEL GLUCK finished with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while sophomore guard Kris Polk collected 19 points and six assists and senior forward Brian Hiltner pulled in 10 rebounds for the Ospreys. Smith also went 8-for-9 from the free throw line for RSC, collecting all eight in the second half.
Stockton took a 38-35 lead after 20 minutes of play, in a first half that saw 11 lead changes and five tie scores. Montclair State fought back with a 20-12 run to take a 55-50 lead with 13:19 remaining in regulation on a jump shot by Gonzalez, but RSC junior forward Sid Jackson connected on jumper of his own with 8:56 left to make it 60-59 for the Ospreys and put Stockton ahead for good. RSC shot 52 percent from the field on the afternoon and also went 12-for-17 from the free throw line in the second half, while MSU had more second-chance points overall, 26-9.
Montclair will now host NJAC foe Rowan University this Monday in a make-up game from Jan. 22, while Stockton entertains Rowan next Wednesday evening in Pomona, NJ.
