Men's Lacrosse Edges Farmingdale State

Farmingdale, NY (3/23/05) - Senior SEAN PEKARSKY (right) scored with 46 seconds remaining to lift Montclair State to an 11-10 victory over Farmingdale State on Wednesday afternoon.

Pekarsky finished with three goals as the Red Hawks (2-4) snapped their three-game losing streak. MSU, which played in its fourth-one-goal contest this season, rallied back from a two-goal deficit with just under eight minutes to play to defeat the Rams for the third time in the last two seasons.

Gianluca Carrabs gave Farmingdale an 10-8 lead with 7:51 to play as he scored his third of the game. But Montclair State quickly cut the deficit to one as BRYAN KLIMCHAK scored 52 seconds later to make the score 10-9. JOHN DELLA PESCA then tied the game with 5:54 to play as he netted his second of the period.

MSU took a 4-1 lead after one period as Pekarsky and DAVE ARMSTRONG scored in a 26-second span for a 2-0 lead. Mike Cullen of Farmingdale answered for the Rams with 6:06 to play in the period, but MICHAEL EARL pushed the lead to 3-1 and Pekarsky scored as time expired.

Farmingdale would score three goals to open the period as Ryan LaFlare, Matt Ramacca and Joe Meola each tallied within the first four minutes. BRIAN FISCHER would put Montclair in front with his goal at 4:16 of the peiord, but Ramacca and Carrabs scored 43 seconds apart as the Rams took a 6-5 lead into halftime.

Della Pesca and Earl each finished with two goals while KEVIN GONDRES had four assists. TIM CONDRON made 12 saves for the Red Hawks, who had 32 shots in the game.

Carrabs and Ramacca each netted a hat trick for Farmingdale, which got two goals from LaFlare. Tony Sheridan had 11 saves for the Rams, who also had 32 shots.

The Red Hawks return home to Sprague Field on Saturday, March 26 as they open Knickerbocker Conference play against Manhattanville at 1:00 pm.
